Gadgetren – After launching worldwide, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has finally officially brought its first handheld gaming device called ROG Ally.
The presence of this gaming handheld was also followed by the Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme processors, which were purpose-built by AMD specifically for the ROG Ally. The good news is that support for these two processors for ROG Ally is here in Indonesia.
ASUS ROG itself will open the pre-order program for the new device on June 27, 2023 online via ASUS Online Store. However, the new ROG Ally with the Z1 Extreme processor can be pre-ordered on that date, while its sibling with the Z1 processor will be unveiled in the near future.
The ROG Ally with Z1 Extreme processor is priced at IDR 11,299,000 while the ROG Ally with Z1 processor is priced at IDR 10,999,000. This gaming handheld is available in only one color variant i.e. white. Each order will also receive a free Xbox Game Pass for PC for 3 months.
Through ROG Ally, ASUS ROG has also entered the handheld gaming industry, introducing devices based on the Windows 11 operating system so that they can not only play games but also perform activities like on a PC or PC.
Users can enjoy various gaming platforms such as Epic Games, Xbox Game Pass, Steam, Google Play Games and many more. The game platform will be displayed organized in the Armory Crate SE app.
In addition to direct access to the game platform, Armory Crate SE also helps users further control all their game collections, including desired game settings and more.
The performance of Z1 Extreme supporting ROG Ally definitely provides faster performance than Z1. The Z1 Extreme delivers up to 8.6 Teraflops with 8 cores and 16 threads.
Meanwhile, the Z1 processor offers up to 2.8 Teraflops with 6 cores and 12 threads. The two processors are supported by AMD Radeon graphics equipped with Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) and FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) which are claimed to be able to deliver better gaming performance rates.
The ROG Ally processor is also paired with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB SSD PCle NVMe Gen 4 storage. In addition, it supports microSD UHS-II slot to increase the storage capacity.
Riandanu Madi Utomo as ASUS Indonesia PR Technician said that before the presence of ROG Ally, existing gaming handhelds could present HD resolution games at 25-30 fps and now ROG Ally with Z1 Extreme can reach resolution Full HD at 50-60 fps.
The cooling system uses anti-gravity heat pipes to prevent temperature changes when users play heavy games plus two fans. This device also features a ROG dust filter to prevent dust from easily entering.
To meet the needs of mobile gaming fans, ASUS ROG also provides the ergonomically shaped ROG Ally design with palm recesses so that users can play games comfortably.
In addition, the 7-inch screen size was chosen because it was based on reports from users who wanted a gaming handheld with a light and compact form factor that could be carried anywhere.
It also weighs around 608 grams and has a battery capacity of 40Whr with 65W charging which is said to be able to play heavy games at full power for up to 2 hours. Meanwhile, watching Netflix movies and YouTube videos can last up to 6.8 hours.
In terms of technical specifications, the ROG Ally 7″ display uses an IPS panel that can work with touch. The display also supports 100% sRGB, 7ms response time, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and 500 nit brightness level.
Not to be easily scratched, the screen layer is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Gorilla Glass DXC. In terms of sound, ASUS ROG also provides two speakers in the ROG Ally, which are equipped with two-way noise cancellation.
ROG Ally speakers are certified by Dolby Atmos and HiRes Audio so users can enjoy games with clear surround sound. ROG Ally also uses a WiFi 6E connection so users can seamlessly access video streaming and cloud gaming.
In addition to being able to be used alone, ROG Ally can be connected to a smart TV with the USB Type C port on ROG Ally on the TV output. Users can then play games with wireless controller support with a maximum of four.
For even higher gaming capabilities, ROG Ally can be connected to an XG Mobile external graphics card from ASUS ROG with a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and 3070 graphics cards or using AMD Radeon 6800XT.
Unfortunately, the ROG Ally lacks splash-proof certification, but it is supported by other supporting features such as AURA Sync, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a fingerprint scanner.
