Gadgetren – To introduce the Aspire Spin Series laptop in more depth, Acer Indonesia invited the Gadgetren team to take part in an exclusive hands-on event in Jakarta.
On this occasion, I was invited to test and practice one of the newest hybrid laptops released in Indonesia, namely the Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14.
Thanks to the use of metal materials, the cover or shell of the laptop feels sturdy to the touch. Meanwhile, the Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 has a 14-inch display with IPS technology and WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution that is capable of displaying high-quality content that is comfortable for my eyes.
Thanks to this IPS technology, I can still see content on the screen up to a tilt angle of 178 degrees. The screen also has an aspect ratio of 16:10 which allows content to be displayed in a large area so that the view becomes wider.
Additionally, this laptop’s screen is touch-able, making it easy to navigate with the touch of a finger, such as opening the Start menu, scrolling pages in a website or document, selecting menus, and more.
The Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 screen can be rotated up to 360 degreesThe turning it into 4 modes at the same time consisting of Notebook or Laptop Mode, Tablet Mode, Tent Mode and Display Mode.
Interestingly, the Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 has a Wacom AES 2.0 certified Acer Active Stylus, which is embedded and built into the edges. That way, I have to quickly grab this Acer Active pen when I want to support my daily activities on this hybrid laptop.
When I tested it, the Wacom AES 2.0-certified Acer Active Stylus was able to provide high-precision pressure to the screen to make it easier for me to draw, write, or write.
In addition, the Wacom AES 2.0 certified Acer Active Stylus can also be used to facilitate navigation between the operating system menus and applications of this laptop.
You could say that this stylus is very comfortable when used in tablet mode because it makes it easy for me to draw on the displayed screen without having to distract myself from the keyboard.
The Wacom AES 2.0 certified Acer Active Stylus itself can last for 4 hours when used for normal activities. In addition, if I put it in the slot or case on the edge of this laptop, the Stylus battery will be fully charged in 1.5 hours.
The kitchen aisle of the Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 is entrusted to a processor with a choice of Intel Core i7-1335U or Core i5-1335U coupled with Intel Iris Xe Graphics GPU and 16GB of RAM capable of handling multitasking activities smoothly.
In addition to high speed, the NVMe Gen4 SSD built into this laptop has a large capacity of up to 512GB so that it can host many applications and files at the same time.
In addition, Matthew John Tirtawirya as the Consumer Product Manager of Acer Indonesia conveyed many features present in this laptop such as a Full HD (1080p) resolution webcam, Acer PurifiedView and Acer PurifiedVoice that can make the video conferencing experience or meetings smoother.
John himself explained that Acer PurifiedView has many assisted AI (Artificial Intelligence) features, such as Auto Frame, which can detect the user’s presence to make the user’s view in a video conference proportional.
Additionally, there is Advance Background Blur that blurs the user’s background to protect privacy while making people focus on the user, and Gaze Correction that allows the user’s eyes to be corrected so that they appear focused on looking at the camera even though the their gaze looks to the left or to the right.
John also said that the Acer Purified Voice feature is supported by AI Noise Reduction technology, which can automatically activate the Active Noise Cancellation feature, which erases the background noise that makes the user’s conversations with other people clear during the video conference.
Armed with a 3-cell 50Wh Li-ion battery, John claims this hybrid laptop can last for 14 hours under normal use, making it comfortable to use almost all day.
On the left side of the laptop is a USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 port, HDMI, a USB 3.2 port and a DC-in connector. Meanwhile, if you move to the right side, there’s a headphone jack port, USB 3.2, Kensington lock, and a slot or housing to store the Wacom AES 2.0-certified Acer Active Stylus.
Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 has been officially sold in Indonesia at a price of IDR 14,999,000 for the Intel Core i7 variant and IDR 11,999,000 for the Intel Core i5 variant. This laptop is also equipped with Windows 11 Home and Office Home Student 2021 operating systems.
