Gadgetren – The parent company of Facebook and Instagram, namely Meta, has finally launched a rival Twitter app, Threads. This app can be downloaded for free on both Apple App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android devices.
Threads has an interface and how to use it similar to Twitter where users can write short messages and organize them into a thread. So, if you’ve used Twitter before, you’ll be able to easily use these Threads.
Interestingly, to use Threads, users only need to sign in through an existing Instagram account. Therefore, Instagram and Threads usernames will be the same. If you don’t have an Instagram account yet, you’ll need to create one first.
When you’re logged in, account bio data can be automatically retrieved from your Instagram account as well as suggestions for accounts to follow from Instagram data.
For now, officially, Threads has the full name “Threads, an Instagram app”. Now, to download the app, you can do it through the link below:
The timing of Threads coincided with a lot of bad news about Twitter, from the change in the verification model to payment, to the more recent restrictions on Twitter usage. All this happened since Twitter was run by Elon Musk, who was previously active in Tesla and SpaceX.
Interestingly, the appearance of Threads will likely shake up Twitter’s position considering the large number of active users on Instagram and the recent poor state of Twitter.
