Gadgetren – To compete in the mid-range mobile phone segment, MediaTek has launched the Dimensity 8050 chipset which comes with a variety of features.
Many mobile phones such as Infinix Note 30 VIP and Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G use the Dimensity 8050 chipset because it has strong performance and supports 5G networks.
Meanwhile, some of you might be wondering about the performance and features of the Dimensity 8050 compared to its equivalent chipset? Referring to the Nano Review website, this chipset made by MediaTek seems to have a performance that rivals the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870.
MediaTek Dimensity 8050 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 870
The MediaTek Dimensity 8050 has an octa-core configuration with Mono-Core 3 GHz Cortex-A78 + Tri-Core 2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 + Quad-Core 2 GHz Cortex-A55. While Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 has Octa-Core with Mono-Core 3.2GHz Kryo 585 Gold + Tri-Core 2.42GHz Kryo 585 Gold + 1.8GHz Kryo 585 Silver composition.
The Kryo 585 Gold itself is a modified CPU from the Cortex-A77 and the Kryo 585 Silver is a modified version of the Cortex-A55. You could say that the performance offered by the Cortex-A78 is slightly more powerful than the Cortex-A55.
Even so, the AnTuTu 9 score belonging to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 reaches 700,791 points, which is slightly higher than the Dimensity 8050 which scores 687,259 points based on test information from NanoReview website.
With such a high score, we can say that the two chipsets will be able to smoothly run heavy applications and games on a mobile phone.
Both the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU present in the Dimensity 8050 and the Adreno 650 carried by the Snapdragon 870 are also capable of rendering graphics properly. However, the presence of Snapdragon Elite Gaming on the Snapdragon 870 can enhance the gaming experience to be more immersive.
Meanwhile, Dimensity 8050 is also equipped with MediaTek HyperEngine support that can improve CPU and GPU performance, frame rate stability, and Internet network capabilities when playing games.
The modem in the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 can support 5G networks with download speeds of up to 4.7 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon X55 5G System RF modem present in the Snapdragon 870 is capable of supporting 5G networks with download speeds of up to 7.5 Gbps and uploads of up to 3 Gbps.
For connectivity, the two chipsets are capable of supporting WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, Q ZSS and NAVIC. Both Dimensity 8050 and Snapdragon 870 also support internal storage with fast UFS 3.1 technology.
The ISP (Image Signal Processor) in the Dimensity 8050 can support one camera with a maximum resolution of 200 MP or two cameras with a combination of 32 MP + 16 MP. Meanwhile, the Qualcomm Spectra 480 ISP in the Snapdragon 870 can support one camera up to 200 MP, one camera up to 64 MP (MFNR and ZSL), or two cameras with a 25 MP + 25 MP composition.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8050 can support mobile screens with a maximum resolution of Full HD+ (2520 x 1080 pixels) and a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 870 can support mobile screens with a maximum resolution of 4K with a refresh rate of 60 fps or Quad HD+ with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
