Gadgetren – MediaTek Dimensity 8050 is one of the interesting 5G chipset that has been incorporated in many mobile phones like Infinix Note 30 VIP and TECNO Camon 20 Pro 5G.
Meanwhile, the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset has become a popular chipset used by a variety of entry-level and mid-range phones that support 4G-LTE networks with strong performance, such as Infinix Note 30, Infinix Note 30 Pro, Vivo V27e, OPPO Reno8 T , Realme 10, POCO. M5 and more.
So how much of a difference does the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 make compared to the Helio G99, seeing as the segment it targets is slightly different?
MediaTek Dimensity 8050 Vs Helio G99
The most striking difference is in the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 which is capable of supporting 5G networks with download speeds of up to 4.7 Gbps and uploads of up to 2.5 Gbps.
Meanwhile, the MediaTek Helio G99 only supports up to 4G-LTE networks with download speeds of up to 650 Mbps and uploads of up to 150 Mbps.
MediaTek Dimensity 8050 (6nm) has an Octa-Core configuration with Mono-Core 3 GHz Cortex-A78 + Tri-Core 2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 + Quad-Core 2 GHz Cortex-A55. Meanwhile, Helio G99 (6nm) has Octa-Core with Dual-Core 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 + Hexa-Core 2GHz Cortex-A55.
For high performance, Dimensity 8050 is based on Cortex-A78 which has better performance and performance compared to Helio G99 with Cortex-A76. To manage power efficiency, these two chipsets use Cortex-A55.
Although they use different GPU where Dimensity 8050 with Mali-G77 MC9 and Helio G99 with Mali-G57 MC2, both will be able to display proper visual graphics.
Based on information from the Nano review, it can be seen that the Dimensity 8050 has an AnTuTu score of 9,689,499 points which is much higher than the Helio G99 which only received a score of 376,639 points.
However, both of these chipsets are equipped with the MediaTek HyperEngine feature that can increase the performance of mobile phones, improve internet networks and stabilize frame rates when running games.
Both these chipsets can support screen resolutions up to 2520 x 1080 pixels. However, the Dimensity 8050 can support refresh rates up to 168Hz, while the Helio G99 is only up to 120Hz.
The ISP (Image Signal Processor) present in the Dimensity 8050 is also capable of supporting one camera up to 200 MP or two cameras with a combination of 32 MP + 16 MP. Meanwhile, the ISP of Helio G99 can support one camera up to 108 MP or two 16 MP + 16 MP cameras.
These two chipsets also support Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, Q ZSS, NAVIC and RAM with LPDDR4X technology. However, the Dimensity 8050 already supports internal storage with UFS 3.1 technology, while the Helio G99 only reaches UFS 2.2.
