Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 vs MediaTek Helio G99 – Which is superior?

Gadgetren – To compete in the mid-range, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 680 chipset while MediaTek brought the Helio G99.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 has been widely used for various mobile phones such as OPPO A78, Vivo Y36, OPPO A77s, Vivo Y35 and others. On the other hand, MediaTek Helio G99 has been used for TECNO CAMON 20 Pro, Infinix Note 30 Pro, Vivo V27e, to OPPO Reno8 T.

Indeed, the average mid-range mobile phone uses these two chipsets because the specifications and features they have are indeed competitive.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 vs MediaTek Helio G99

Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 uses Octa-Core with Quad-Core 2.4GHz Kryo 265 Gold + Quad-Core 1.9GHz Kryo 265 Sliver. Meanwhile, MediaTek Helio G99 has Octa-Core with Dual-Core 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 + Hexa-Core 2GHz Cortex-A55 composition.

Kryo 265 Gold is a modification of Cortex-A73 whose performance is still below Cortex-A76. Meanwhile, the Kryo 265 Silver is based on the Cortex-A53, which has lower power consumption performance than the Cortex-A55.

In this way, the performance of MediaTek Helio G99 is superior to Snapdragon 680. Based on information from the website Nano Review, Helio G99 can even get an AnTuTu v9 score of 373,610 points which is higher than Snapdragon 680 with a score of 269,409 molecules.

Even though they use a different processing system, the Snapdragon 680’s Adreno 610 GPU and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU can handle OS graphics, apps, and games smoothly.

ISP (Image Signal Processor) Qualcomm Spectra 346 belonging to Snapdragon 680 has MFNR (Multi Frame Noise Reduction) and ZSL (Zero Shutter Lag) supporting one 32 MP camera, two 16 MP cameras or a combination of 13 MP + 13 MP + 5 MP for three cameras.

The Snapdragon 680 ISP can also support one camera up to 64 MP without MFNR and ZSL support. While the ISP from Helio G99 supports one camera up to 108 MP or two cameras 16 MP + 16 MP.

Both of these chipsets support LPDDR4X RAM, internal storage with UFS 2.2 technology, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, Q ZSS, NAVIC, Wi-Fi 5, NFC and Full HD + resolution screens (2520 x 1080 pixels).

If the Snapdragon 680 supports Bluetooth 5.1 and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, it is different from the Helio G99 which already supports Bluetooth 5.2 and a screen refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

These two chipsets definitely support 4G LTE Category 13 networks with download speeds of up to 390 Mbps and uploads of up to 150 Mbps. You could say that the internet speed offered is quite high for a 4G-LTE network size.
