The Difference Between ASUS ROG Phone 7 vs ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate – Not Much!

The two gaming phones made by ASUS, for example, both rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4nm) clocked at 3.2GHz as the kitchen runner. Both also combine LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 internal storage to boost this chipset’s capabilities.

For the screen, the standard ROG Phone 7 and Ultimate also use a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with an image resolution of up to Full HD + (2448 x 1080 pixels). Both also support very smooth animations thanks to refresh rates of up to 165Hz.

The camera section of the two devices also looks similar. Both the regular and Ultimate ROG Phone 7 feature a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera, 13MP wide-angle and 5MP macro. Both also support a 32MP front-facing lens.

Providing a more enjoyable gaming experience, ROG Phone 7 and Ultimate also agree to use ultrasonic sensors as AirTrigger feature. We can also use it with a wider function because it supports up to 9 gestures instead of just the L and R buttons.

However, with a price difference of up to Rp.8 million, where the standard ROG Phone 7 is sold starting at Rp.10,999,000. while the Ultimate costs Rp. 18,999,000, the two devices continue to fall with several differences.

The most visible difference between the two gaming phones lies in the memory configuration on offer. The standard ROG Phone 7 comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the Ultimate has 16GB and 512GB.

With a higher memory configuration, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is definitely more reliable in handling various types of games. These devices are also better able to handle multiple tasks and data simultaneously.

Apart from the differences in this aspect of memory configuration, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate also has an additional AeroActive Portal feature in its thermal system. Thus, the increased temperature handling capability of these devices can be more efficient.

A little info for those of you who have never heard of it, the AeroActive Portal is a small hole that will automatically open when we install the AeroActive Cooler on the back of the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. Its function is to flow air directly into the Rapid-Cycle vapor chamber cooler.

Based on the information submitted by ASUS, the AeroActive Portal feature can be three times more effective in dissipating the heat generated by the chipset. So the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate device can have a relatively more stable temperature even though it is used to play heavy games.

If the regular model only features Aura RGB lighting, the back of the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is equipped with ROG Vision as a further differentiator. This feature is not just a light bulb but an OLED display that can display various kinds of animations depending on the state of the device.

The availability of color options for the two ASUS gaming devices is slightly different. If the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is only available in Storm White, the regular version also has Phantom Black as an alternative.
