Gadgetren – To target the 5G mobile phone segment in the middle class, OPPO launched the OPPO A78 5G mobile phone with a price ranging from Rp 3 million.
Meanwhile, there is also the OPPO A96 as a more affordable option with support for the 4G-LTE network that has been available in Indonesia for quite some time.
Both these devices are backed by dual rear cameras consisting of a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. Apart from that, both have 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM to handle multitasking activities.
Both of these devices use front-filling IPS displays so they can display content wide and clear. Thanks to the 90Hz refresh rate, the display is also able to display smoother transitions and animations.
All these mobile phones are equipped with IP54 certification which proves that they are resistant to dust and water splashes. Not to forget that there is a fingerprint sensor on the side, Face Unlock feature, support for two SIM cards, microSD slot, WiFi and Bluetooth are all here.
OPPO A78 5G vs OPPO A96
The kitchen aisle of OPPO A78 5G has been entrusted to the MediaTek Dimensity 700 (7nm) Octa-Core chipset with Dual-Core 2 GHz Cortex-A76 + Hexa-Core 2 GHz Cortex-A55 configuration.
Meanwhile, the OPPO A96 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 (6nm) chipset with Quad-Core 2.4GHz Kryo 265 Gold + Quad-Core 1.9GHz Kryo 265 Silver.
The Cortex-A73-based Kryo 265 Gold performs below the Cortex-A76. Meanwhile, the Kryo 265 Silver, a modification of the Cortex-A53, has performance and performance capabilities below the Cortex-A55.
Structurally, the CPU belonging to the Dimensity 700 is more powerful than the Snapdragon 680. Thanks to the 5G modem present in the Dimensity 700, the OPPO A78 5G can support 5G networks with download speeds of up to 2.77 Gbps and uploads of up to 1, 25 Gbps when the OPPO A96 is still limited to 4G only.
The OPPO A96 has a screen with a width of 6.59 inches, a resolution of Full HD + (2412 x 1080 pixels) and 401 ppi (pixels per inch). Taller than the OPPO A78 5G which has a width of 6.56 inches, HD + resolution (1612 x 720 pixels) and 269 ppi (pixels per inch).
If the OPPO A78 5G uses teardrop-shaped bumps, it is different from the OPPO A96 which looks more futuristic with a punch hole. Even the OPPO A96 front camera has a resolution of 16 MP which is bigger than OPPO A78 5G with 8 MP.
All these mobile phones support RAM expansion feature which allows borrowing free internal storage space to become virtual RAM. However, if the OPPO A78 5G supports up to 8GB, it is different from the OPPO A96 which only reaches 5GB.
However, the OPPO A96 itself has 256GB of internal storage, or double the capacity compared to the OPPO A78 5G which still packs 128GB.
Both these phones are also equipped with 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging mode where the OPPO A78 5G battery can be charged from 0% to 52% in 30 minutes, while the battery power from OPPO A96 can be charged from 0% to 50 % in about 26 minutes.
For the price itself, the OPPO A78 5G reaches IDR 3,999,000, a bit expensive compared to the OPPO A96 at IDR 3,649,000. You could say that if you don’t care too much about the 5G network, then the OPPO A96 remains one of the most attractive phones to propose.
