Gadgetren – When we need the right device to play games, we might take a look at the range of laptops from the ASUS ROG (Republic of Gaming) family series that are generally designed for that.
The problem is that this family of gaming laptops doesn’t just bring high-performance machine configurations that are capable of handling various kinds of game titles. Various kinds of technology have also been incorporated by ASUS to provide a better gaming experience.
One of them is on the screen. Some ROG laptops today are generally equipped with panels with ASUS ROG Nebula Display technology that offer better support for viewing various types of content.
What is ASUS ROG Nebula Display?
Nebula Display is a panel technology developed by ASUS so that its laptop monitors can produce stunning colors, sharp contrasts and smooth animations to make playing games more immersive.
So you can be sure that monitors using Nebula Display technology will generally support 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. So later it will be able to produce colors that are truer (true) and have a palette like today’s HDR films.
The quality of the image output has also been certified by Pantone so it can display more accurate colors. Nebula display screens also feature TÜV Rheinland-certified harmful light protection.
The Nebula Display panel will also have a very high refresh rate standard for each image resolution setting. Therefore, laptops with this technology have settings for 4K @ 120 Hz, QHD @ 120 Hz, FHD @ 240 Hz or higher.
The response time of Nebula Displays is generally less than 3ms. This shows how quickly each pixel will change so we don’t have to worry about losing momentum later when playing games.
There is also MUX switch support to support Nebula display panels. This technology later allows the signal from the dGPU to be forwarded directly to the display so it can have a lower level of latency in data transfer.
ASUS also ensures that the Nebula Displays will have a brightness level of up to 500 nits with a contrast ratio of 1,200:1. In addition, they will also incorporate Dolby Vision HDR support to improve the quality of image production.
Interestingly enough, this display technology also has a higher version called ASUS ROG Nebula HDR. We can also consider it if we need a panel with better brightness, contrast and color reproduction.
ASUS ROG Nebula HDR
As the name suggests, Nebula HDR is specifically designed to best display HDR (High Dynamic Range) content. This display panel is specially developed using mini LED technology which is perfect for it.
For those of you who don’t know, mini LED is a technology that allows a display panel to produce superior local dimming characteristics. It can usually produce deeper colors and have a higher contrast ratio and brightness level.
Especially for Nebula HDR, ASUS ensures that the display panel supports local dimming of up to 512 areas. The brightness level can also reach 1,100 nits with a contrast ratio of up to 100,000:1.
To ensure HDR content can be displayed correctly, Nebula HDR is built to VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) standards. This panel in particular has even received a DisplayHDR 1000 certificate.
