WhatsApp is now available on Wear OS Smartwatches

Gadgetren – Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has officially announced that the WhatsApp app can be tested on wearables or smartwatches running Wear OS 3 and above.

Previously, WhatsApp support on Wear OS devices could only see notifications, just know incoming chats and accept or reject phone and video calls.

Now, the presence of the WhatsApp app for Wear OS devices offers more and more advantages where smartwatch users with Wear OS 3 and above can communicate, such as replying to messages, chatting on phone calls and video calls.

Even with the WhatsApp app on Wear Os 3 and above, users can combine messaging with emojis in addition to writing text. You could say that Meta is well suited to showcase the availability of WhatsApp on wearable devices running Wear OS 3 and above.

The reason is that next week Samsung will hold a big tech event called Galaxy Unpacked on July 26, 2023 which will be held specifically in South Korea.

Rumors circulating about Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked next week are said to showcase a new generation of the Galaxy Watch series, namely the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. The device is likely to use the latest operating system support i.e. Wear OS 4 which is also compatible with the WhatsApp app.

This is also expected to be the first debut of Wear OS 4 on the Galaxy Watch 6 series devices, just as in the past, the Galaxy Watch 4 series first launched Wear OS 3.

As additional information, WhatsApp for mobile devices with Wear OS 3 and above is specially built independently (standalone) by Google, which started with its introduction at the Google I/O technology event. After many tests, finally WhatsApp for Wear OS 3 and above can be enjoyed by Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 users.

In addition to these two devices, WhatsApp with Wear OS and above is also available on other compatible smartwatches such as Pixel Watch, TicWatch Pro 5, including watches from Fossil, Montblanc and other brands.

The use of WhatsApp on compatible smartwatches is not arbitrary and must support the LTE network on devices with Wear OS 3 and above, so that it is possible to write texts, emojis, communicate in phone or video calls without having to be near the mobile phone.
